The art room is all cleaned, organized, and packed up for the summer! I spent a solid 4 days and a little extra tearing the room apart to put it back together in a more logical and organized way.
When I became the art teacher at Casey in 2018, I inherited almost two decades worth of stuff from the previous teachers. Throw in a global pandemic into that situation and let's just say it was a bit overwhelming. I found all sorts of things that I had no idea what to do with! I took a Marie Kondo approach to the situation and it was well worth it! I know exactly where everything is and how much I have of it. You name it, and I can find it in under 30 seconds. I can't explain how exciting it is to start fresh next year with a perfectly organized space. I'm working on getting a fresh coat of paint on the walls and some minor repairs done as well. I am thinking of new and fresh ideas for a strong comeback in the fall! For now, let's just let the dust of the 2020-2021 school year settle and take a deep breath, or two, or three. It was a wild and wacky year and we all (including this lovely organized space) need to take a well deserved break! Happy summer awesome artists!! We are CROCS! We are CARING! We are RESPONSIBLE! We are OUTSTANDING! We are CREATIVE! We are STRONG! A total of 54 Casey Crocs from Kindergarten through 5th grade submitted art work they created at home for our last art project of the 2019-2020 school year titled "What makes me a Casey CROC". All 54 names were entered in a prize raffle and 5 names were chosen. While I wish I could mail out prizes to all my creative crocs, I believe that the real prize is the joy of creating! I loved seeing all the artwork my students created and turned in. Check out all the amazing artwork that was completed and turned in by the deadline!
Thank you to all 53 Casey Students for entering artwork in the "What Makes Me a Casey CROC" project raffle! I was blown away by how many entries I received that I went out and found two more prizes! Watch the video below to see who won! I will be posting all student "What Makes Me a Casey CROC" art here on my website soon! Final Week of 2019-2020We made it CROCS! This is the final week of distance learning for the 2019-2020 school year! While this is a very bittersweet moment, I am excited to announce our last art project for the year! This assignment is for all Casey Elementary students in Kindergarten through 5th grade! Students that turn in artwork for this project will be entered into a raffle drawing to possibly win one of three art related prizes! Check out the final project here.
This past week I was able to go to our school (following social distancing guidelines and district rules) and pack up the art room to prepare for summer. I put away supplies, cleared out trash and recycling, and packed up my personal belongings. I also gathered all student art work around the room and on display throughout the school and safely packed it up for everyone to take home when we once again return to the building. It was bittersweet seeing all of our Creative Casey Croc's beautiful artwork as I truly miss teaching each of my students in person. I've created a slideshow of artwork that we had finished and were working on over the past few months before Spring Break. Enjoy! One of my favorite AWESOME Art Teachers, Cassie Stephens, created this amazing lesson on how to draw Baby Yoda. You've got to try this out! May the 4th be with you!! Don't forget to show me your work when you're done! Stay safe and keep creating!
Hello Awesome Artists! Next week in art we will be creating portraits in all grade levels. For a little warm up and a LOT of fun, try this blind contour line portrait. When your done, snap a picture and email it to me! I'd love to put it in my online gallery! I can't wait to see what you create! If you haven't already checked out my portrait lesson for the week of April 20-24, click here: Past Weekly Lessons
